Our products are made of the best quality of HINOKI naturally grown in Asian countries starting with Taiwan where we find ones with 1000 years of age. The quality is guaranteed by Mr. Johichi Nishioka in his book “Learn from wood”.

About HINOKI
According to the “Nihon-shoki” (the oldest chronicles of Japan), HINOKI (Japanese cypress) has been used for Palace construction as it is the most precious tree in the nation. HINOKI keeps getting stronger for 200years after being cut down and takes 1000years to slowly get weak. There are huge Temples made of HINOKI such as Ho-ryu-ji and Yakushiji that are maintained as they were first built.
About Kiso
Kiso is an area in Nagano prefecture, well-known for it’s wild HINOKI. To be sold as “Kiso-HINOKI”, it has to be over 150year-old. It is believed to be the top quality HINOKI for manufacturing traditional wooden products.
